Community Action Lanarkshire (CAL) are delighted to have been awarded £445.398 match funding from SLC Renewable Energy Fund for the construction of the path upgrades for Coalburn to NCN 74 and Coalburn to Poneil. This match funding along with the recently awarded £200,000 construction funding from Paths for All, Ian Findlay Path Fund will enable us to progress to the next stage.
As you may be aware, CAL have been working in partnership, this past year with Coalburn Miners welfare society, One Stop Shop Coalburn, Coalburn Community Action Group & Douglas Community Council to progress two linked path projects in the Coalburn area - one connecting Coalburn with Douglas to the South, and one connecting Coalburn with Lesmahagow in the North (via the NCN74 cycle route providing access to Auldton and Devonburn). Plans are ongoing to secure the final tranche of funding to complete the route from Poneil over to Douglas.
