Welcomes, Walks and Woodworking at New Lanark Spring Food and Gift Fair
What are you doing on Monday 4th May? Join us at the New Lanark Spring Food and Gift Fair for fun for all of the family!
From the best in local produce to a free guided Victorian walk to Corra Linn, Falls of Clyde, a Green Woodworking Course, seasonal children's activities and a whole lot more, there's something on offer for everyone. And what's more - it's all for free!
The Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership will be sharing a gazebo with the Clyde Valley Orchard Group outside the Visitor Centre, alongside our partners RSPB and Scottish Wildlife Trust. Come along to say hello and find out what we've been doing to celebrate the unique landscape and cultural heritage of the Clyde and Avon valleys. You'll be able to take a ride on our Smoothie Bike, book yourself on to a free Victorian walk to Scottish Wildlife Trust Corra Linn, Falls of Clyde, or try your hand making a stool at Clydesdale Community Initiatives' Green Woodworking Course.
Join storyteller and folklorist Allison on a journey back in time to the 1800s, through the grounds of old Bonnington Estate to the most impressive of the Clyde's Falls, Corra Linn. As seen on BBC2's Great British Railway Journeys with Michael Portillo, this specialist tour comes ahead of the launch of SWT's Victorian trail which is due to be published later in May. You can book tours with Allison at any time for a fee, but don't miss your chance to enjoy this tour free of charge, with Victorian style treats of tea and fudge thrown in for good measure. 1:30 - 4pm, booking essential at www.cavlp.eventbrite.co.uk or call 01555 663 430.
Stewart from Clydesdale Community Initiatives (CCI) is also offering a free Green Woodworking Course where you can make your very own wooden stool - all materials and equipment provided. Any level of experience is welcome. Call 01555 664 211 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to book.
And that's only a fraction of what's happening at the fair. There will be great local produce and shopping opportunities as well as demonstrations by chefs and producers from across Scotland, arts & crafts, gifts & accessories and traditional crafting demonstrations. In-house produced New Lanark wool will feature and there will be the chance to take part in some knitting and crafting workshops!
Entry is free and the fair lasts from 10am - 4pm. Get down early for what's sure to be a jam packed day of family fun!
