The Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership (CAVLP) and New Lanark Trust invite local folk to drop in to the River Room at the Institute for the Formation of Character this Saturday 1st June, between 11am and 4pm for a fantastic joint event in which we want to hear your ideas! Refreshments will be provided, along with free hands-on activities for children.

The event includes ‘Get Up Close to Your Landscape’- part of a tour of the valleys by CAVLP which sets out to engage local people in protecting, conserving and celebrating this unique and beautiful part of the world. People can find out more about the opportunities with CAVLP and local groups on local events, volunteering or learning new skills for employment or pleasure. The tour will generate ideas for projects to enhance the area and the CAVLP will work with local people to help make them happen over the next three years. Past events on the tour have identified potential new paths to help locals enjoy their landscape, and interesting stories about the past and the people of the valley.

The event also includes the opportunity to explore the redevelopment of the Clearburn Picnic and Play Area at New Lanark. New Lanark Trust is applying to the Big Lottery Fund’s Community Spaces Programme for funding to develop a new natural, accessible and sensory play area on this site.

A spokeswoman for New Lanark Trust said, “The ‘Ideas Event!’ will give people the chance to let us know how you would use the site to relax, play and explore. You can draw, write or tell us your suggestions and your input will help to guide the final design.”
