What Can We See? Where Can We Go? Jock's Burn
Jock’s Burn is one of the few places in Carluke where people can experience a bit of nature, including residual ancient fauna that would have at one time cloaked the local area. Unfortunately in recent times the areas has suffered from neglect, fly-tipping, and negative press which has resulted in the once popular walking route being disused and avoided.
Through the Make Your Way project we want to reingage the people of Carluke with Jock's Burn, promoting it as a place to be used by all, on a daily basis. Through the use of periscope headdress we invite you to take a stroll through Jock's Burn and to record the little details you notice along the way. Upon your return we will use this findings to highlight the beauty and potential of the area through a series of temporary creative interventions and making activities such as temporary signage and miniature sculptures.
This event will coincide with the Jock's Burn Clean Up which is being delivered by Clydesdale Community Initiatives - CCI throughout January and February. Volunteer with the CCI workforce and help us to clear the entrances, improve the steps and complete other general improvement works. All tools will be provided. Please wear weather appropriate clothing.
We hope to see you there!
