Help clear woodland to the new Make Your Way artworks in Glassford
Join CCI to clear woodland by the 'Three Stanes' (Standing Stones) in Glassford on the 31st October. Help us to clear and cut back some of the trees in a short strip of woodland along Tapped Hill, improving access to the newly installed stiles, benches, signage and gate along the path to the stones: a unique cultural and historic site in the area.
Light work is required to clear a number of overgrown trees and complete other general improvement works surrounding existing fencing, access points.
All tools will be provided. Please wear weather appropriate clothing.
The dates are as follows:
October 31st, 2017 meeting at farm gate halfway down the track towards Braehead Farm, (just off Muirburn Road). Please see attached map for further details on meeting point.
Have a look below at the new features to which you will help improve access.
The Make Your Way project aimed to encourage local people to walk and cycle more whilst exploring the rich heritage of their local area and is focussed on the communities of Larkhall, Lanark, Carluke, Stonehouse and Glassford. The project culminated with the production of a series of new physical and digital maps as well as artwork installations along freshly defined routes.
The project was delivered by icecream architecture, a people focussed art and design company, and SYSTRA, a sustainable travel consultancy. It has been funded by Smarter Choices, Smarter Places grant and is part of the Heritage Lottery Fund supported Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership scheme.
