The multi-media 'Technopolis' facility takes the visitor from the arrival of the Romans in the area, through the rise and fall of heavy industry to the present-day regeneration of the district. The use of hands on technology, with talking figures, recreated streets and foundry scenes really brings the industrial hey-day of the area to life. The centre also has an exhibition gallery, the focus of many fascinating shows and community projects over the year.
Explore North Lanarkshire’s extensive historical archives collections which span from the 15th century to the present day and include poor relief records and cemetery day books. The Local History department also holds a wide range of resources covering the areas of Motherwell, Bellshill, Shotts and Wishaw (Old Motherwell District) and offers one-to-one advice and guidance on researching your family tree.

For a wonderful view over the Clyde Valley, take the stairs to the viewing tower (lift available) and, on a clear day, see from Lanarkshire's Tinto Hill right down to Glasgow and beyond to Ben Lomond. There is also a small shop selling a range of books on local heritage, cards, traditional toys and sweets. During school holidays the centre lays on a selection of craft activities and events for children.
